At The Cutting Room, we believe that becoming a great stylist requires more than just a license—it’s about refining skills, gaining hands-on experience, and mastering the art of client care. That’s why we’ve created our Associate Stylist Program, a unique opportunity for recently licensed cosmetologists to grow from budding professionals into expert stylists.
What is the Associate Stylist Program?
Our Associate Program is designed to give new cosmetologists the real-world experience they need to thrive in the salon industry. Each associate begins their journey by assisting and shadowing our seasoned stylists. This offers them a front-row seat to observe advanced techniques, learn about client consultations, and understand what it takes to create an exceptional salon experience.
Hands-On Experience with Model Days
What sets our program apart is the Model Days we offer to our associates. On these days, associates work with clients at a discounted rate of $50 an hour, under the supervision of an experienced instructor. This setup gives them hands-on practice with everything they’ve learned from shadowing, allowing them to fine-tune their techniques, improve their timing, and deliver professional services—all in a real salon setting.
Path to Becoming a Full-Time Stylist
Our associates graduate from the program once they’ve demonstrated their proficiency in several areas. To become a full-time stylist at The Cutting Room, they must successfully test out of key services and show skill in:
Advanced techniques
Client consultations
Delivering a high-quality customer experience
Timing and efficiency in their work
Once they pass these assessments, they join our team of full-time stylists, equipped with the knowledge and experience to deliver the high standard of service The Cutting Room is known for.
